Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., the owner of myspace is responding to the new BBC plans to expand in the area of user created content.

This discussion is already being held for a while about what kind of television is public television, but what kind of web applications / communitiy is depending on public funding? When is something returning a cultural value that otherwise would be lost?

If public money is about making things available that otherwise would be lost it wouldn’t be so bad to build a search engine. Oh, right, commercial companies are already into this.

Escheresque photorealistic compositions in GMaps

When I was browsing Google maps I found this image of Houston. It looks a bit like an Escher image. The perspective of some of the buildings is completely out of context, notice the difference between left and right of the image. Somehow some stichting software, a photoshop enthousiast or a wicked lens has perfectly connected the different perspectives into one image.

Or what about this image?
